6 months (August)
We have a bit of bitter-sweet news, we will be soon welcoming my cousin's sweet little girl to foster in our home for at least 6 months (if not more)...
A little background: My cousin Anthony is very young (22 years) and his girlfriend are on drugs and have not been able to properly care for baby Carlee (10 months)as a result. Anthony's sister called us right away when CPS took baby Carlee (about 1 month ago) to tell us...We knew we needed to try to step up and get her...Carlee's social worker asked us if she indeed placed Carlee with us and that if the parents were unable to fulfill the court mandated requirements if we'd be willing to adopt her...Since we were already in the process (literally) of going through a second adoption this was not hard to answer...
Anyways...So for right now we are telling our children and ourselves that we are "babysitting" for a very long time...If God changes that, we will cross that bridge when we get there...My husband and I have personally never wanted to foster children, because we never wanted to feel the pain of losing a child we might fall in love with, but I guess God is calling us to have to die more to our self once again!! UGH (sooooo hard!) Like it says in Is. 55:8-9, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways my ways" says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
We want to truly and completely be surrendered to God's plan, but fear, selfishness, uncertainty, inadequacy are all quick to crowd in and scream in our ears!!...Please will you pray for all aspects of this situation...Carlee is God's child and He has already planned her life, we don't want to get in the way of that...We want the Lord to restore these broken lives!!
Needless to say we are so excited to be given the opportunity to love this little baby girl and welcome one of God's little lambs in our home :) and bring even more fun and craziness to our already fun and crazy home!!! We can hardly wait to get this baby girl in our home, we are soo soo soo happy and excited we can hardly stand it :)
SOME DETAILS...
We are waiting on fingerprint clearances and have been moving like "mad" to get foster hours online completed, CPR class today, social worker and certification of the home on Monday...By Monday the fingerprints will be the only thing we will be waiting for :)...
