ORPHAN SUNDAY!!

Well, I have to say how excited I am that Orphan Sunday is here! It is so exciting to see how God is working in believers to care for the orphan...Today we celebrated as a church, the awareness, by preparing quite a ways in advance for this special day! Many t-shirts were made and ordered along with lots of resources, bullitin inserts, video clip, and more...I have to say the "ORPHAN SUNDAY" website is the absolute best! They give you everything for this special day...

This evening we will be devoted to praying for the ministries of Orphan Care and taking the time to recognize the "need" and to cause an awareness for believers all across the world to see the afflictions of the orphan...Please do your part today by praying for the children who are desperate for love, every believer can pray. :) Oh and if you are wondering what part you might be able to play in "Orphan Care" here is just a little list hee hee...I think many people believe adoption is the only way to care for the orphan...WRONG :) !! So many of us are called specifically by our gifts and I pray you might get a little "ignite" of flame to see how you might personally be used by God.

MOBILIZE your church for them

Tape a waiting child’s picture to your dashboard and pray for the child every time you’re in a car. Visit AdoptUsKids.org or RainbowKids.com.

Organize an evening prayer vigil at your church and pray for children in foster care or an orphanage overseas.

Carry a waiting child’s picture and show it to other believers. Ask if they, or someone they know, would give this child a home.

Give sacrificially to a reputable orphanage. Financial gifts can be designated for specific items and aid needed by orphans. Visit HelpOrphans.org for more information.

Organize a drive in your church to collect school supplies for children in foster care or shoes for orphans overseas. Visit GainUSA.org or ShoesForOrphanSouls.org.

Mow, baby sit, or organize meals for a week for foster parents. Pray with them and tell them you appreciate what they do.

Encourage a family adopting an older child by hosting a shower for them.

Become a foster parent or emergency foster parent.

Take dinner to a foster group-home on a regular basis.

Support reputable orphan care organizations on a regular basis.
