"Little Man" has a thing with holding my hand as he eats, it's been going for about two weeks, who knows how long it will last, but I wanted a picture to remember it :)
When you adopt within the USA, you go through a six month period before you can finalize and give your children your last name and make it all "legal" as far as no more social workers and involvement from the government (which by the way, from our experience, has not been as bad as we would of thought it to be at ALL!!). There are also things which can prolong a finalization of an adoption...Very seldom does anything go "awry" in this period...But when the courts are involved, the parents, family members (even though these people have already been given the opportunities as first choice, and for whatever reason were not granted rights to have the children they are appealing for), lawyers, and public defenders get involved and make appeals to final decisions and so it goes on and on and on, making it a year to even more before a finalization...Until there are no more appeals to be made...Sooooo...all that to say;
Our social worker emailed and let us know that she checked to see if any "appeals" had been made on our case since the judge terminated parental rights of the birth parents over 60 days ago(there is a 60 day period after the decision for anyone to appeal the decision)...There were NO appeals made, meaning no-one can appeal or slow down our process because it is past the 60 day period to do so!!!! This is HUGE! This means we WILL, by God's Grace, be signing in court, this year, around the 8th of November! We will give them our last names and legally they are no longer tied to the government, they will be ALL OURS (in the technical sense)!!!
This news comes as we are approaching a "half Way There" mark...meaning we've had our children for three months now and are half way through the six months! Ya hoo!!
Now the Lord could throw a little "rock" in there somewhere that we are unaware of, but as for now we are rejoicing at this wonderful news!!

Wow!! Where does the time go...you are almost their. And what a blessing it is to have no appeals.
YIPEE!!!!! I am SO excited and SO thankful that God has seen fit to work in this way! I know that you would have joyfully handled whatever came along...but I am so glad that it looks like the "biggie" is not a "biggie" anymore!!!!
