That is in the eyes of God...I am Holy in the eyes of God...I am blameless in the eyes of God...Because Christ has reconciled me "...in the body of His flesh through death..."
I came across this verse on Colossians this morning and was just dumbfounded once again at how this could be true Col. 1:21-22 "...He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you (Wendy)holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight..."
Everyday I deserve the reproach of God! Everyday I deserve to be blamed! Everyday I prove that I am not holy in this flesh I live in! Everyday I deserve God's wrath, anger, and punishment! But God in His mercy has spared my life, he has opened my eyes to my never ending need for a Saviour. I just had to share this overwhelming truth! What a beautiful God we serve. I am reminded every minute of everyday my wretchedness, my will that always battles against God's...But knowing "...God who started this good work in me will complete it..." gives me hope!
This truth causes me to stand humbled before such an incredible Father and ask "WHY?" "Why do you see me this way, when I deserve to be seen as unholy, reproachable, and deserving of all the blame???!!!" Oh Yes! IT IS NOTHING that I have done or can do, But all of what Jesus has done! Jesus the one who absorbed all of my blame, unholiness, and reproach! And because of Him, God can see me this way! Praise God! Give Glory to His name!
I read this on my friend's blog and she said I could steal it :) It encouraged my heart, hope it does yours too!
O Changeless God, Under the conviction of thy Spirit I learn that
the more I do, the worse I am,
the more I know, the less I know,
the more holiness I have, the more sinful I am,
the more I love, the more there is to love.
O wretched man that I am!
O Lord,
I have a wild heart,
and cannot stand before thee;
I am like a bird before a man.
How little I love thy truth and ways!
I neglect prayer,
by thinking I have prayed enough and earnestly,
by knowing thou hast saved my soul.
Of all hypocrites, grant that I may not be
an evangelical hypocrite,
who sins more safely because grace abounds,
who tells his lusts that Christ's blood
cleanseth them,
who reasons that God cannot cast them into hell,
for he is saved,
who loves evangelical preaching, churches,
Christians, but lives unholy.
My mind is a bucket without a bottom,
with no mind for spiritual understanding,
no desire for the Lord's Day,
ever learning but never reaching the truth,
always at the gospel well, but never holding water.
My conscience is without conviction or contrition,
with nothing to repent of.
My will is without power of decision or resolution.
My heart is without affection, and full of leaks.
My memory has no retention,
so I forget easily the lessons learned,
and thy truths seep away.
God give me a broken heart that yet carries home
the water of grace.
